what breed of dog? is that? Very cute!
By: comicalcupcake. on 28 Apr 12, 06:21:28
I have a similar problem to Sheriichi. My little guy, who usually knows better, gets so floppy and comfortable when he's tired. If he's napping in his crate, he won't come to me at all for treats, and it takes several minutes when I sit nearby with his favorite toy. I was taught that you can never let a "come" command go unheeded, so I hate to admit it but I've dragged him out of his crate at times. I hate? to see the sad look on his little face?there must be a better way! What should I do?

what about? in the jungle?
By: estellondia. on 12 Mar 12, 01:01:16
Hi kikopup, I'm looking at my new potential dog/puppy tomorrow at a local shelter. You probably won't get back to me in time, if you were to answer, but what are some tips you would give on picking the best dog for me? Are there some things in a dog I should avoid? Thanks? :) (If anyone else has advice, I'd greatly appreciate it !)
By: HarleyAndRocky. on 11 Mar 12, 07:54:31
Hi Emily, My puppy Harley is 7 months old, he will come when called in the garden, but as? soon as we are out the front door, even if there is no distractions, he is not interested in me or treats (and I use his all time favourites: cheese and chicken!) What can I do? There are tonnes of distractions in the garden (My rabbit, Rocky, fish in the pond jumping about, birds etc) and he goes to chase a bird and when I call he comes straight back, and completely forgets about the bird. HELP!
By: MsZoraZ. on 10 Mar 12, 17:24:36
That would be so awesome if you could do that! Otherwise I'd have to resort to correcting my dog - which I really don't want to do - but to carry treats in your pocket? 24/7 is kind of ridiculous. Keep making your wonderful tutorials, your videos are the best!!!!! :DDD

I've already watched your leash biting video,? but my 13 week gsd puppy still bites the leash... I need some help..she doesn't move when she has the leash on, and she just sits and bites it
By: kikopup. on 07 Mar 12, 16:41:54
Yes! All dogs can be trained using positive reinforcement :) Check? out my website, it has all the videos listed by content and its easier to find what you need there rather than on youtube
By: kikopup. on 07 Mar 12, 16:38:10
The end result should look like the dog doesnt want to go to the hole? anymore and instead stares at you for a treat.
By: kikopup. on 07 Mar 12, 16:37:21
Try to have success every time. The try call aways from the hole itself while you are closer to your dog. If your dog doesnt come, DONT JERK but walk backwards with even pressure until your dog comes, never do that in a collar as you can hurt or choke? your dog. Dont say anything just go back a step. Everytime your dog comes back to you, your dog gets a high level reinforcement and then is released to check out the hole. (try not to release to the hole in too exciting a way)
By: kikopup. on 07 Mar 12, 16:33:28
Proof? the recall with distractions- I almost made a video with a gopher hole! The thing was popping its head out and in of the whole, then I ran to get my camera and the darned thing didnt come out again! But this is def a video I want to make. Practice with a hole, have the dog on a HARNESS and longline, and call the dog when you are near the hole and can succeed, then get closer to the hole as you go.
By: kikopup. on 07 Mar 12, 16:30:43
oops! Whatever the dog finds reinforcing! My dogs adore bread and kibble for some? weird reason. splash is obsessed with cheese. Kiko and tug like meat, and trisch likes everything. For puppies I try to keep it super healthy, so use mainly boiled chicken etc
By: kikopup. on 07 Mar 12, 16:28:02
doggonegood treat bags?
By: kikopup. on 07 Mar 12, 16:26:57
Have the person who plays his owner make a connection with him, and give him treats whenever possible+ like when they go off stage- so he never knows when he might get a treat from her. You can teach him a cue- go to actor- with a release- free! that always pays off big time, so you can send him to the actor where he will walk next to or watch the actor and then have a cue? to come away.
By: kikopup. on 07 Mar 12, 16:22:52
I figured these videos were long overdue! I got caught up in complex tutorial videos which I thought were fun, but then I realized there were no really good basic tutorials out there? on the web!

I know! I was really scared she was going to stay so poofy and be hot in san diego! Now she LOVES living in sweden though with her? nice thick coat.
By: kikopup. on 07 Mar 12, 16:09:48
Try turning sideways and putting the treats between your feet in front of you so that after a couple reps she will be anticipating the most reinforcing thing being at your feet. If she still keeps jumping at your face, then that means the treats are not as reinforcing as jumping so you will need to use better treats or make the recall low key- start out? slow and then build up speed :)
